INS:
Swimming: This is an absolute must every summer so of course I started with this! I love swimming and water in general. Something about it is just so healing. When I was a kid, I used to say I was a mermaid but maybe in hindsight I said that because I didn't know how to articulate my love for water. Maybe.
Exercise: Any kind really. I’ve gotten into running (I think I got runners high for the first time, but it could’ve just been sweat in my eyes). I’ve also been doing strength training more consistently. Also, Stairmaster and yoga…love it. I like Arianna Elizabeth on YouTube for yoga!
Reading: I used to read like 4 books in a couple weeks at least—now it’s more like starting 4 every few months. I don’t know what changed but I want to get back to reading more. Currently reading Clytemnestra by Costanza Casati and Warmth by Daniel Sherrell!
Writing: This is my first summer on Substack and it’s been great. It’s been so fun building a little community slowly. Maybe it’s the newness of it all—or the almost secrecy of not promoting my Substack to people I know—but each follow, subscribe, and other interactions feel more fulfilling than some of my other platforms. The writing I’ve been doing here takes more mental and emotional effort, but it feels better!
OUTS:
Negativity: In myself and others. I’m at a point in my life where I’m tired of being sad and negative. No more people who make me feel that way; and more grace with myself.
Suppressing thoughts and emotions: Something I’ve been working on for a while now. It’s definitely a learning process but I’m done leaving interactions thinking ‘I should’ve said…’.
Messy living spaces
Lack of discipline
reading and writing will always be in :)
